מדיניות ביטולים

שלום לכולם,

ברור לי כי אייל רוצה למנוע מצב של ביטולים המוניים לפני טיול
אך קנס על ביטול טיול 21 יום לפני הוא לא הגיוני
גם כרטיס לחו"ל ניתן לבטל עד שבוע לפני ללא קנס
אני הייתי מציע ביטול ללא קנס עד 7 ימים
7-4 ימים 10%
3-2 ימים 20%
1 יום - 40%
ביום הטיול 100%

אייל - שבוע לפני זה המון זמן, אף אחד לא יבטל בכוונה - זה חוג קבוע - בהגנת הטבע היו הרבה נרשמים חיצוניים

חברי החוג - אנא הביעו דעתכם - הייתי רוצה לדעת מה חושבים שאר החברים בחוג

Guy (and everyone else of course),

First of all I cannot respond in Hebrew because I am in Japan and there is no Hebrew support on most computers here... so I am at a dis-advantage, but I'll try to explain anyway.

The cancellation policy is a classic case of long-term good of the common overriding short-term good of the individual.

Like asking "how much tax do you want to pay?" - well clearly nobody wants to pay taxes, but then we will not have any public services - health, education, defence, infrastructure, etc. (Here goes my pure-Capatalist image...)

Each and every one wants to avoid the fines (Knassot), and will vote accordingly. However a strict cancellation policy is better for the group, because in the long run it helps reduce costs and execute the hikes properly.

The current policy is based on 5 years of experience that I have as the co-ordinator of Hug-Elad. With HaHevra LeHaganat HaTeva the cancellation policy was like the one you suggest - and there were plenty of problems. So why duplicate a policy which we know to be a bad one?

On a more practical level, which everyone seems to overlook, if you cancel 1-3 weeks before the hike, then the fine is 5% which translates to an average of 12.5 Shekels...

Is that too high a price to pay, once in a long while, for the well being of Hug Elad in the long run? For me this is a very small price to pay (just to clarify - I pay for all the hikes and subject to all the rules just like everyone else).

More on the practical level, note that the cancelletion policy also includes a broad spectrum of EXEMPTIONS from the fines. In simpler words, if you really run into a problem and you are FORCED to cancel, you will not pay a fine. But if you cancel just because you think that this weekend you don't feel like hiking - then pay a small fine and forget about it.

So, to sum up my view of things, the current policy has a positive effect of preventing "phantom registrations", serving the good of Hug Elad. For the individual this "horrible" policy will cost about 12.5 Shekels, on the rare occasion that he/she cancels without a good reason.

האמת - לפני שקראתי את מה שאייל כתב הייתי הרבה יותר "רכה"...
אך לאור נסיונו שוכנעתי שלטווח הארוך עדיפה לחוג מדיניות קשוחה ו"התפשרתי" על 14 יום...
